One of her most popular works, Julie of the Wolves won the prestigious Newbery Medal in 1973, the American Library Association’s award for the most distinguished contribution to literature for children. More recently it has been put on Oprah Winfrey's “Oprah's Book Club Kids' Reading List!” Years later, after many requests from her readers, she wrote the sequels, Julie and Julie's Wolf Pack. Another well known book and winner of the 1960 Newbery Honor Book Award is My Side of the Mountain, the story of a boy and a falcon surviving on a mountain together. As a special addition to this presentation, illustrator Wendell Minor will be available to sign books with Jean Craighead George after the presentation. This duo has collaborated on such children’s greats as Morning, Noon, and Night, My Side of The Mountain—Trilogy Boxed Set, Snow Bear, and The Epic Adventures of Julie and Her Wolves.
